Ceramic Coating
Ceramic Coating Just Makes Sense in Florida
Whether you just drove a new vehicle off the lot or want to restore the finish on one you’ve owned for years, ceramic coating is one of the most effective ways to protect your paint for the long haul. Unlike wax or sealants that sit on the surface and wear off within weeks or months, a professional ceramic coating chemically bonds to your vehicle’s paint, creating a hard, semi-permanent layer of protection that can last years with proper maintenance.
That protective layer is hydrophobic, meaning water, dirt, and road grime bead up and roll off instead of sitting on your paint and doing damage. It also provides strong resistance to UV rays, chemical contaminants, light scratches, and the kind of environmental wear that Florida’s climate dishes out year-round.
At Island Time Mobile Detailing, we install SystemX ceramic coatings, a professional-grade product line trusted by certified installers across the country. Every coating package includes a one-step paint correction to ensure your paint is in the best possible condition before the coating goes on. The result is a deeper, cleaner finish and protection that holds up season after season.

Frequently Asked Questions About Ceramic Coating
Q: What is ceramic coating?
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to a vehicle’s paint surface, creating a hard, semi-permanent protective layer. It provides resistance against UV rays, chemical contaminants, water spots, and light scratches, and it significantly reduces the effort required to keep your vehicle clean.
Q: How long does ceramic coating last?
It depends on the package. Our SystemX Max G+ and Max MF coatings are rated for 9 or more years and come with a lifetime warranty. The SystemX Pro is rated for 6 or more years with a 6-year warranty. We also offer 1-year and 3-year packages for owners who want shorter commitments.
Q: Does ceramic coating replace clear coat?
No. Ceramic coating is applied on top of your existing clear coat, not in place of it. Think of it as an additional protective layer that bonds to the clear coat’s surface, adding hardness, UV resistance, and hydrophobic properties. Your clear coat remains intact underneath. If your clear coat is damaged or heavily worn, that will need to be addressed before a ceramic coating is applied, which is part of why we include a paint correction step in every coating package.
Q: Is ceramic coating worth it in Florida?
Absolutely. Florida’s year-round UV exposure, salt air, humidity, and insects are particularly hard on vehicle paint. Ceramic coating provides strong UV protection and a hydrophobic surface that sheds contaminants before they can cause damage, making it one of the most practical investments for Emerald Coast vehicle owners.
Q: Does ceramic coating prevent scratches?
Ceramic coating provides resistance against light surface scratches and swirl marks, but it is not a substitute for paint protection film when it comes to rock chips and road debris impact. For maximum protection, many of our customers combine PPF on high-impact areas with a ceramic coating over the rest of the vehicle.
Q: Can ceramic coating be applied to any vehicle?
Ceramic coating can be applied to most painted vehicles, as well as matte finishes, satin paint, and wraps with our SystemX Max MF product. We also offer ceramic coatings for glass and wheels. Contact us to discuss what’s right for your specific vehicle.
Q: What is included in a ceramic coating package?
All of our paint ceramic coating packages include a one-step paint correction in addition to the coating application. Our 1-year and 3-year packages also include a full exterior wash. Additional services like interior coating, glass coating, and wheel coating are available as add-ons.
Q: Where can I get ceramic coating in Destin, FL?
We offer ceramic coating services at our Destin Fl shop: 150 Industrial Park Road Unit 9, Destin, Florida 32541, United States
Q: Can I combine ceramic coating with paint protection film?
Yes, and it’s one of our most popular combinations. PPF goes on first to protect high-impact areas from rock chips and road debris, then ceramic coating is applied over the top for hydrophobic protection, UV resistance, and enhanced gloss across the entire vehicle.
